Sarbjit Hundal, M.D., F.A.C.S , director and founder of Mission Valley Eye Medical Center, attended Punjabi University in India where he graduated with a medical degree in 1975. He joined State University of New York in Buffalo, New York in 1976 in the dept. of pathology. He then changed his field to Ophthalmology and completed residency in Ophthalmology at the Erie County Medical Center from 1977 to 1980.Dr Hundal moved to Chicago in 1980 to join University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and did a two year fellowship in Medical Retina / Laser Photocoagulation and Vitreous / Retina Surgery from 1980 to 1982.
Dr Hundal opened his Ophthalmology practice in California in 1982 and built the Mission Valley Eye Center / Mission Valley Surgery Center in 1990. He specializes in cataract/lens implant surgery, multifocal lens implants, Laser surgery for Diabetic eye disease, retinal tears, and macular degeneration; Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)and Laser surgery for Glaucoma (Narrow angle and Primary open angle Glaucoma). Dr Hundal is fellow of the American College of Surgeons, fellow of American Academy of Ophthalmology and fellow of the International College of Surgeons.
Dr. Jasmine (Huanjing) Chen is an optometrist in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her Doctorate in Optometry from UC Berkeley and completed a post-doctoral residency in cornea and contact lenses at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Her expertise includes the management of irregular corneas using specialty scleral and gas permeable lenses. Dr. Chen also completed clinical externships at VA hospitals in San Francisco, Reno and Miami, where she practiced full scope optometry and trained in the management of common eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Prior to optometry, earned her B.S. with honors in molecular and cell biology from Stanford University.
Dr. Chen is passionate about the treatment of dry eyes and vision care through the latest contact lenses, digital lenses, and orthokeratology. She is a current member of the American Academy of Optometry, California Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the San Franciso County Optometric Association. Dr. Chen is an active volunteer, supporting initiatives such as Berkeley Suitcase Clinic, VOSH, and Bay Area vision screenings. During her free time, she enjoys cardio-kickboxing, dining, exploring the world, and taking care of her Maltipoo puppy named Mondu.
Dr. Sane is a full time cornea specialist and refractive surgeon at the Mission Valley Eye Medical Center, Fremont, CA. She completed her fellowship training in Cornea and External Diseases & Refractive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Sane grew up in central India, and graduated among the top three students in her medical school. After moving to the US, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at SUNY Buffalo, where she was selected to be the chief resident. She was awarded the ‘Certificate of Outstanding Academic Performance’ every year during her residency. As a resident she was also honored with Resident Excellence award, and received a research grant by the ASCRS foundation.
Dr. Sane is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmology, London, and fellow of the International council of Ophthalmology. She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She specializes in cataract with standard, toric and multifocal intraocular lenses, anterior segment diseases, corneal transplants, (PKP, DALK, DSEK and DMEK), LASIK, PRK, Intacs and implantable collamer lens.
